 A great jockey, a great trainer and a great man. One of only a handful of men to complete a Grand National double win, as a Jockey,on Ambush II in 1900, and later as a trainer in 1920 with Troytown, with Mr Jack Anthony on board.

Special thanks to Algy's grandson,Algy, for all his help, and who sadly passed away on 16 November 2009.His help, time, and kindness was invaluable in putting together the missing pieces of his grandfather's life. So short a time we had in sharing memories, but they are ones I'll forever treasure.God bless you Algy, may you rest easy and be at peace.

Polite notice to name gatherers

 Over 25 years of research has gone into tracing this family by certain members, so all you name gatherers out there, think on.What joy do you get in just adding names? You miss out on the joy of breaking down brick walls, you miss out on getting to actually understand your ancestors and what made them tick and you have also taken a lot of peoples hard work. You have failed to understand what makes you the individual you are today, by not learning and researching your ancestors.

So collect names if you must, add census records to those names. Build your tree up to be a skyscraper. Our little A team have one advantage over you. We have a strong bond, because we've taken the time to study each and every individual in our Anthony ancestry,researching our own branches before we combined each branch into one big tree. We know what makes us the people we are today because we cared enough about our past to take our time to research.
